I went back and highlighted this passage on the original post because this is probably the passage most people miss when reading the article.
This passage demonstrates the authors' attitudes and beliefs surrounding alcohol consumption, which apparently is a very relaxed or inconseqential one to say the least. I seriously doubt these attitudes were developed recently. A parent’s attitudes are almost always passed down to its children. Sure, he could’ve learned from external sources, but it’s clear that the mother’s attitudes did nothing but reinforce them as well.
I understand the desire to try and skirt responsibility for someone who’s greiving, but please know that the only thing more indefensible to the actions of a drunk driver, is to those of a pedophile.
Would you defend the mother of a pedophile who constantly posted photos of naked children on her social media?
